#11. Remember Small Businesses

Updated: Jul 26, 2022

I have owned several small businesses through the years. The last two months of the year can make or break a business. Please remember your local businesses at this time of the year. Without them life would be a lot more difficult and a lot less fun.

"Imagine your neighborhood or city without any of its small, local businesses.

Coffee shops, hair and nail salons, corner stores, spas, boutique clothing stores, consignment shops, restaurants, craft stores, bars, fruit markets, shoe/bike/tire repair shops, laundromats, art supply stores, gift shops, gas stations, pet stores, and more – all gone.

What would be left? What would the streets look like? Desolate, depressing, empty, boring, abandoned… like a regular day on the zombie apocalypse TV show,

Just how much of a presence and impact do small businesses have on our communities?

The Small Business Administration (SBA) reports that 28 million small businesses operate in the U.S. alone. And since 1995, those small businesses have generated 66% of all new jobs in the United States. Small businesses are a big deal."

A gift certificate from one of your local stores as a Christmas gift is a great way to support local businesses. Who wouldn't appreciate a gift certificate for fabric, gas, restaurants, coffee shop, hairdresser or even a corner store?

Small business owners strive to survive and one of the biggest advantages they have over large retailers is the ability to provide more personable, hands-on, and memorable customer service.

What are your reasons for running a small business or shopping at one? I would love to hear them!

I will be at Quilt Market and Festival the week of the election so I voted last week. Yeah! Voting has been an important part of my life. I don't believe I have ever missed any election. So, if you want yourself heard please make time to vote. It's important!

I give you my Irish goodbye.

Why pay money to have your family tree traced; go into politics and your opponents will do it for you?
